DCI Exhibits at ICSC’s New York Deal Making Expo

This year marked the first year DCI Signs & Awnings participated in the New York Deal Making expo presented by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). The three-day event from Dec. 4 through Dec. 6 at the Javits Center in New York City was truly an influential, inspirational event we were proud to be a part of.

During the ICSC expo, we joined our fellow colleagues for the East Coast’s largest retail real estate event for networking, updates on industry trends, professional development, and, of course, deal making. As a leader in custom commercial signs, architectural canopies, awnings, and other sun control products, we learned a great deal more about the retail real estate environment. We also were able to contribute significantly to discussions on the industry’s most current issues and practical solutions for the tri-state region.

We were so excited to exhibit this year to make connections with potential clients—with more than 10,000 in attendance and more than 530 exhibitors—and build stronger relationships with existing ones. We even got a first-hand look at the latest in experiential retail technology with educational sessions and demonstrations. Dealing with innovation and technology every day to better our own products, services, and fabrication processes for custom canopies, sunshades, awnings, and signs, we got a real kick out of learning more about retail tech updates and trends.

We also thoroughly enjoyed keynote speaker Doug Stephens, founder of Retail Prophet and author of two retail-focused books, “The Retail Revival: Re-Imagining Business for the New Age of Consumerism” and “Reengineering Retail: The Future of Selling in a Post-Digital World.”

We loved learning how trends and industry leaders such as the businesses in the room are reshaping shopping for consumers today and how a strategic retail footprint. From interactive installations and custom signs to the appearance of a retail space from its exterior, all these potential interactions and branding opportunities drive unique customer experiences and positive first impressions to capture robust online and offline audiences and drive sales.

ICSC’s New York Deal Making expo was a huge success in our book. We hope to see our clients—new and prospective—next year. We are looking forward to all the positive impacts the event will have on our business in 2019 and beyond!
